Julia Roberts’ ‘August: Osage County’ Co-Star Found Dead? Misty Upham Is Suicidal: Family
A body found in the Seattle area could be of missing actress Misty Upham, Seattle Times reported.
According to Auburn police, a family member who had been searching for found the body at the bottom of a 150-foot embankment near Forest Ridge Drive, which is near the White River, with a purse containing the missing actress's identification f ound nearby.
While canvassing the forest, the family member was in a search party of three found Upham's purse and ID and continued searching a ravine where they discovered a body. They immediately called 911, Kiro TV said.
Relatives and members of the native community organized a search on Oct. 16, Thursday, the actress's friend and Upham family spokesperson, Tracy Rector said.
The Upham family said the actress is indeed suicidal and she had moved to the Seattle area to help take care of her father, who is recovering from a stroke and had been staying on the Muckleshoot reservation at a relative's apartment.
According to Auburn Police Commander Steve Stocker, police responded to several suicide calls at the same apartment in 2013 and Upham's parents confirmed the actress was on medication for mental health issues, Stuff reported.
Stocker also said there is a "good chance" the body found over a cliff in a wooded area is that of Upham, who was last seen walking by herself from an apartment on Oct. 5 near Auburn, which is approximately 30 kilometres south of Seattle.
His father reported her missing on Oct. 6 having her added in the Washington Crime Information Center database.
Police said the medical examiner's office is yet to confirm the identification of the body and the cause and manner of death.
Born in Montana, Upham was eight when her family moved to Seattle.
Aside from her roles in "Django Unchained" and the 2008 crime drama "Frozen River," which earned her an Independent Spirit Award nomination, the 32-year-old Native American actress is also known for playing a housekeeper in the film adaption of "August: Osage County."
Starring Meryl Streep, Julia Roberts and Ewan McGregor, the 2013 film "August: Osage Country" features Upham as a Cheyenne housekeeper named Johnna Monevata who takes care of Streep's character Violet.
