The Goldbergs Season 2 Episode 4 Spoilers and Preview: Can the Goldbergs Win in the Game of Looking Cool?
The Goldbergs Season 2 episode episode 4 which airs Wednesday, October 22, at the 8:30 PM time slot on the the ABC network is entitled "Shall We Play A Game." Written by Niki Schwartz-Wright and Mac Marshall and directed by David Katzenberg, the next installment in the sitcom TV series will have young Adam Goldberg (Sean Giambrone) inadvertently getting Barry (Troy Gentile) kicked out of the "Jenkintown Posse," the cool group of friends at school, and he must come up with a plan to get his older brother back in. So, Adam convinces Barry and his friends he has the skills to hack into the school computer system to change their grades, but does he?
Later and elsewhere, Adam's mother Beverly (Wendy McLendon-Covey) is seen immediately getting jealous when she learns her daughter Erica (Hayley Orrantia) hangs out with a friend's cooler mom. So, she sets out to show Erica that she can be cool too, but can she?
The Goldbergs also stars Patton Oswalt as the unseen adult Adam Goldberg who acts as narrator, George Segal as Adam's maternal grandfather Pops Solomon and Jeff Garlin as Adam's father Murray Goldberg.
Guest starring for the "Shall We Play A Game" episode are AJ Michalka as Lainey Lewis, Gillian Vigman and Louise Rubin; Brittany Underwood as Jill Rubin; Matt Bush as Andy Cogan; Sam Lerner as Jeff Schwartz; Noah Munck as "Naked" Rob Smith; Jerrell Lee Wesley as Teacher; and Jackson Odell as Ari Caldwell.
Set during the 1980s era, The Goldbergs is loosely based on the real-life childhood experiences and adventures of show creator and producer Adam F. Goldberg while growing up in Jenkintown, Pennsylvania. As a boy, Goldberg documented his family life with his video camera. Many of the videotaped events were reenacted during the show with Oswalt providing the voiceover.
