'Tracy Morgan': Comedian-Actor Fights Hard to Get Back After an Accident
Tracy Morgan's attorney Benedict Morelli told People that the 30 Rock star had brain injury when last 7th of June, a Walmart tractor-trailer crashed into his limo last summer. It is still blurred if the comedian-actor can still perform again.
Last Tuesday, Morelli revealed in New York Post that Morgan has been under physical and vocational therapy, to resolve speech and cognition conflicts, following his severe injury from the accident.
It looks like Morgan has to undergo further health assessment tests that will aid in his healthcare management and give answer if he can still continue in his career.
"The jury's still out. The doctor's don't know the answer. I don't know the answer," Morelli said in the Post.
According to his lawyer, Morgan, a father of four, still uses a wheelchair and will not be expected to be able to walk for months. Additionally, the actor-comedian may have to undergo surgeries in the future and has to let pass several career opportunities. A series from FX network, in which the actor is set to star, was put on one side in June.
Morelli also noted that the recovery process of the actor-comedian may take up some time.
"When you say someone is a standup comedian, they need to stand up. It's very rigorous to do that. Yes you have two things: You have to have a very good body and stamina. And right now, he doesn't have Tracy Morgan stamina."
The actor-comedian is currently struggling with the cognitive and speech impairment brought about by the accident.
"The second thing you have to do is to have razor-sharp intellect and mind, and that's the old Tracy Morgan. So that's what he's struggling with. All the people in the van who I represent had traumatic brain injuries. So that's not a joke," Morelli added.
Regrettably, the six-vehicle car crash also earnestly killed his friend as well as fellow comedian James "Jimmie Mack" McNair as well as injured two passengers, which adds to Morgan's struggle.
As his federal lawsuit continues against Walmart continues, Morgan issued a statement on Tuesday, saying that he was not to blame for the incident. The said lawsuit was filed in U.S. District Court in New Jersey in July. In contrary to Morgan's statement, Walmart asserted that it was Morgan's fault for not wearing his seatbelt at the time of the smash.
Meanwhile, truck driver Kevin Roper remains free at bill and has pleaded not guilty to the charges of vehicular homicide and assault by automobile.
"My friends and I were doing nothing wrong. I want to thank my fans for sticking with me during this difficult time. I love you all. I'm fighting hard everyday to get back," as Morgan thanks his supporters and believers.
