Hardie Avenue Reveals Their New Album Details to Hallels in This Exclusive Interview
Christian pop/rock band Hardie Avenue has teamed up with Pillar frontman Rob Beckley for the new single, "Indestructible." Available now at iTunes. The track will be part of the band's upcoming album, due later this year.
Hardie Avenue began in Seattle, Washington, in 2005. The band released the albums "Father's Love", "Army of One", and "Piercing the Darkness" independently before signing to Tate Records. After signing with Tate, Yuriy and lead guitarist Montaque Reynolds relocated to Tulsa, Oklahoma, in order to improve the band's marketability. Missing a bassist and drummer, Yuriy began looking for musicians on Craigslist, ultimately bringing in brothers Steve and Dave Allie on bass and guitar. The band then recorded the album "Beautiful Words" with Tate Records in 2010 and their self-titled EP with From The Depths Entertainment in 2012. In 2013 drummer Josh Harms joined, and the band recorded their widest release "Party At The End Of The World" before embarking on a regional PR tour. The band appeared on various television stations in support of the album. The album was well received by critics in the Christian music scene.
We are so honored to catch up with Hardie Avenue for this exclusive Hallels' interview.
Hallels: Congratulations on the release of your stellar new single "Indestructible," for some of our readers who may not have heard it yet, tell us what is the song about?
This song is a proclamation to all the people and a reminder that we are truly indestructible in Christ Jesus. When the world is trying to promote something, they will make sure it's televised on every TV channel, online and even though they say they are not trying to shove it down your throat, that's exactly what they're doing! But we as Christians take this approach - that we are these miserable people and that this is not our world and so one day we will be in heaven! I understand that the heaven is waiting for us, that the father prepared a place for us to live with Him, but we need to stand for what we believe, we need to fight for what we believe, we need to acknowledge Him in every way, and not to be scared even to the point of death! Do not be afraid of those who kill the body but cannot kill the soul. Rather, be afraid of the One who can destroy both soul and body in hell. (Matthew 10:28 NIV)
Hallels: You also got to sing with Pillar's Rob Beckley on this new song, how was it like working with Rob?
I have to say that it was an amazing time working with Rob on this project. First I have to say, Rob was a big deal, in my eyes he was Michael Jackson in the Christian music industry to me! When he came to the studio he was the most humble man I've ever met. He was asking me how I wanted him to sing on this project which blew me away. In my head I was thinking, "just sing anything - I don't care - You're in Pillar!" And yet it really helped us to accomplish this song - to put finishing touches on it, and his work was amazing.
Hallels: This new single will be from your upcoming album. Is there a title yet to the album? When will it be released?
The album will be released on 11/11/ 2014. The album name will be Hardie Avenue.
Hallels: What will be the theme or themes of this new album?
There are many themes in this album... As Christians we have to leave our baggage at the cross and truly give our life to God under his control. Another one is that we can't live like we used to, it's a prayer to God to wake us up out of this ordinary life, and wake up into his glory to live life like he wants us to live!
Hallels: Are you guys penning all the songs? Any covers?
On this album all the songs will be originals, but right after we will be working on cover songs and singles that will be released individually!
Hallels: On your website you mentioned that music is more than just getting on the stage performing. Rather, it's about a relationship of sharing about who you are and your relationship with God. Can you tell us more about what you mean by this? After seeing thousands of different concerts,
I've seen that there is a barrier between musicians and the crowd. Musicians hide behind the mic's, behind the guitars, and then they are on the way home! What I mean by that is that we want to tear down the barrier. We tell the crowds that we are the same as they are with struggles of life. We are not different just because we're on stage. We were messed up, screwed up and God saved us - pulled us out of it and yet we are still fighting the fight. It doesn't matter where you're fighting the fight, it doesn't matter what your struggles are, but as long as you ask for forgiveness get up and go after God you will reach your dreams. We try to me everybody, we try to pray for everybody and open ourselves completely to the needs of the people!
