Minions Movie Release Date, Reviews and Spoilers: Illumination Picture's Chris Renaud is Replaced by Despicable Me's Pierre Coffin in Director Task
When Illumination pictures came up with the idea for Despicable Me, I doubt they knew what a favorite the minions would be. By the time the second installment came out the Minions had achieved rock-star status, it is no wonder production on their own movie was started. On August 21st 2012 it was announced the movie would be released in December 2014 but that was later pushed to July 10th 2015. Which is okay, good things come to those that wait on them. After Despicable me one grossed 543 million dollars worldwide with the second one grossing an awe inspiring 970 million dollars it was a good fiscal move to make a minion movie.
The plot of this movie explains where the minions came from. The minions evolved from yellow single celled organisms whose only purpose in life is to serve history's villains. Having worked for the greats like Genghis Khan and Dracula they decide to move to Antarctica to start a new life. This loneliness from the lack of a villain to tell them what to do, no doubt, drives them to depression in the 60's. As a result our favorite three, Kevin, Stuart and Bob set out to find a new boss. This sojourn leads them to the Villain convention and to Scarlett Overkill a villain they feel would fit the bill for new boss.
Despicable Me's Pierre Coffin shall be staying on as director, Illumination pictures have replaced Chris Renaud who worked on the other two with Pierre for Kyle Balda. Chris Melendadri and Janet Healy shall also be staying on the production team. Keeping with the risky, but interesting trend of changing writers for every installment Brian Lynch has been brought on to write the screenplay. Brian worked in writing capacity on Hop and Puss in Boots, this is of course an assurance that the movie is in good hands. The cast is as yet still bare with only Sanda Bullock and Jon Hamm being confirmed. Whatever happens we are looking forward to seeing our banana-loving friends in July next year for what is set to be one of the best movies of summer 2015.
