Veteran Christian Singer Steve Green Releases "Hide the Word: Bible Songs for Kids"
Contemporary Christian artist Steve Green has always have had a heart to minister to children. Now he has taken the opportunity to release "Hide the Word: Bible Songs fo Kids." As thee title suggests, Green has taken the time to write catchy new music to accompany verses from Scripture. This is an attempt not only to get children and the entire family to sing along. But it's also an invaluable opportunity for kids to learn various verses from God's Word. In addition to featuring Green on lead vocals, the CD also features a children's choir with individual kids quoting the verses. Green's granddaughter, Addy, made her recording debut on the project as well.
"Hide The Word" is Green's ninth kids project. Green wrote the music and adapted the Bible verses for all 15 tracks on Hide The Word, using some of the Bible's most precious promises, including John 3:16-17 ("For God so loved the world...."), Psalm 119:105 ("Thy word is a lamp unto my feet...."), John 14:6 ("I am the way, the truth and the life...."), Matthew 11:28-29a ("Come to me all you are weary and burdened and I will give you rest...."), and Psalm 23:1-3 ("The Lord is my shepherd...."). Steve Green and his brother and manager, David Green, served as Executive Producers, with Dick Tunney as Producer.
"There is nothing more powerful or lasting than God's Word!" says Green. "In the Scriptures, God has told us all we need to know for life and godliness. These Bible Promises set to music remind us who God is and what He has done for us. What's more, the songs are just plain fun!"
Over the years, Green has been known for his vocal range (tenor) and flexible solo style. Over his 35 year career, Green has been honored as a four-time Grammy Award nominee, seven-time Dove Award winner. He has had 13 No. 1 songs, and has sold over three million albums. Green, whose breakout 1985 album "He Holds The Key," earned the vocalist that year's Dove Award for Male Vocalist of Year, began releasing children's recordings simultaneously with his CCM projects with "Hide 'Em In Your Heart Worship" in 1998 and "Hide 'Em In Your Heart: Bible Memory Melodies, Vol. 1 and Vol. 2" in 2003.
Green was also involved with the Billy Graham Evangelistic Association from the mid-1980s onward. Green was one of the first artists to be involved with Promise Keepers, performing at their inaugural event at Folsom Field in Boulder, Colorado in July 1993 before 50,000 men. His song "Answer the Call" was inspired by the event and another song, "O Men of God Arise," embodies the Promise Keepers' message.
"Hide the Word" is available online at www.stevegreenministries.org, iTunes and Amazon, and at all Steve Green live events.
