Celebration Worship On Giving Expression to What God is Doing with their New Album "Lineage"
Celebration Worship is comprised of Dove Award-winning artists and worship team members from Jacksonville, FL-based Celebration Church, a multi-campus and global "house comprised of many rooms" reaching tens-of-thousands of people around the world. The team released its ninth album, Lineage, Oct. 16 from AWKNG Records, which is being distributed for the first time from Venture3Media (V3M) and is now available on all digital and streaming outlets globally.
Known for songs like "Victory," "Let Your Spirit Fall," "Thy Faithfulness," "My Soul Will Sing" and "You Amaze Us," Celebration Worship's Lineage features eight new songs, all written and recorded by Celebration Worship. Team members include Dove Award-winning songwriter Matt Adcox and multi-million-selling, preeminent messianic worship recording artist, Paul Wilbur. Also featured on the recording are Celebration Worship's Lindsey Brenner, Marie Hodges, Ryan Hodges, Lina Bosque, Edwin Garcia and Kierre Lindsay.
We are honored to catch up with worship music team for this exclusive interview.
Q: Thank you so much for doing this interview with us. Tell us about Celebration Church.
Marie Hodges: "We are a multi-cultural church that loves & follows Jesus. We are kingdom minded and want to reach people with the gospel of Jesus!"
Paul Wilbur: "We are a large, independent, multi-racial, charismatic, evangelical church with multiple campuses across Jacksonville, central and south Florida, and several nations around the globe. We are Jesus centric, family oriented, with a strong Kingdom emphasis rooted in the faith of the apostles and prophets."
Q: As a church you believe in the celebration of the Jewish roots of our faith. Why do we need to celebrate events such as the Passover, aren't they of the old covenant?
Marie Hodges: "So much of the western church has forgotten that Jesus was Jewish and so much of that was lost. We celebrate Passover and other Jewish holidays because we remember the sacrifice that Jesus paid and these holidays remind us to pause and reflect on that."
Ryan Hodges: "We should pause & remember throughout the year what God did for us."
Q: You have a new album "Lineage" out now. How was this record birthed?
Ryan Hodges: "We wanted to put to words what was happening in our church as we began experiencing God in new ways."
Marie Hodges: "After our Pastor had an encounter with Jesus, he got a revelation that in heaven the angels were singing high praise to God. Praise that was about Jesus & the incredible things that he does. It included everyone from every tribe & nation and this album reflects that. It puts Jesus in His exalted place and calls everyone to Him to join Him at His table where all are welcome."
Q: Why did you entitle the record "Lineage"?
Ryan Hodges: "We are His family, we are one!"
Marie Hodges: "Because we are His family and this represents all of His family. Different cultures, different backgrounds, rich or poor, weak or strong. We are all welcome at the Lord's table."
Q: What were some of the highlights in the making of this record?
Edwin Gracia: "One notable moment for me was in the writing of forevermore. I remember when we all split off that day into groups to song write and Lina had written the bones of the verse and chorus. Even listening to it then I remember telling myself "this one is going to be something big". To see how God's used it in our church and now to see it expand further than that is surreal!"
Ryan Hodges: "Getting to write with our incredible team!"
Marie Hodges: "Getting to work with so many incredible people from our different campuses."
Q: How do you think the current pandemic has affected worship and worship music?
Marie Hodges: "I think people are in desperate need of the presence of God and if we aren't singing things that exalt Him and take people into His presence then what we are we doing? Now more than ever we need the tangible presence of God to inhabit our praises."
Ryan Hodges: "I think it has caused people to look for hope and in doing so turned them to Jesus. More than ever we need songs that talk about the good news of the Gospel."
Paul Wilbur: The current 'pause' in gathering for corporate worship has had a surprisingly positive effect in worship writing and production. With worship taking on a more personal and intimate focus, folks have spent more time in His presence and come out with some beautiful expressions of what they are seeing and hearing. We will be releasing new material for praise and worship every month as a direct result of this pandemic!
Q: How will your new music help some of our readers who are burdened by what's happening right now?
Ryan Hodges: "it can be a reminder & an encouragement of who God is and what's brought us through and what he will continue to do."
Marie Hodges: "We believe that we have heard from heaven and that these songs are going to remind you of the great love Jesus has for you that he still saves still heals still delivers and still sets free. We pray His presence comes into your homes!"
