World Help Launches Food and Relief to Aid Starving Families in Yemen
For nearly four years, Yemen has been embroiled in a civil war that has led to one of the world's worst humanitarian crises and famines. World Help is one of the humanitarian groups responding to this crisis.
Working with local partners, the organization is providing food and emergency supplies to Yemeni families. The war has left millions without access to adequate food, clean water, and medical care, which has taken the biggest toll on children. Earlier this year, U.N. Secretary General Antonio Guterres stated that "every 10 minutes, a child under 5 dies of preventable causes" like starvation and disease.
"Food is the most urgent need," said Vernon Brewer, founder and CEO of World Help. "Millions of children across Yemen are starving to death because of a war they have nothing to do with. If we don't respond immediately to this tragedy, what does that say about us - as a nation and as Christians whose goal is to show love to others?
"Parents are terrified. As frightening as the war itself is, there is nothing scarier for a parent than to watch a child waste away from hunger. Without food soon, these children won't survive, so it's crucial that we let them know help is on the way."
World Help, which specializes in rushing emergency supplies to conflict zones, is raising funds to continue providing relief to Yemen. A $35 donation will provide emergency food, medicine, and clothing to one person affected by this humanitarian disaster.
