Elevation Worship Honors the Hymns with Their New Release
Coming out this week is Elevation Worship's brand new collection of hymns entitled "Hymns of Worship - How Great Thou Art." The set contains 18 hymns of the church including "Nearer My God to Thee," "Christ the Lord is Risen Today" and "Love Divine."
Senior Pastor of Elevation Church and auhor Steven Furtick speaks of the importance of hymns when he says: "The great hymns of the church are filled with some of the richest words and confessions of praise. But often we overlook the power of these songs because of our perception of them. Occasionally during our weekend worship experiences, like this video from the Code Orange Revival, our worship team will take a new approach to a timeless hymn to break free from the familiar and help our church gain a fresh perspective on these incredible songs of worship."
Elevation Worship is from Elevation Church in Charlotte, North Carolina. The band released three independent studio albums. "We Are Alive" was released in 2008, "God With Us" in 2009 and "Kingdom Come" in 2010. "Kingdom Come" was the band's first album to breakthrough on the Billboard charts, and this was done on No. 5 on Heatseekers, No. 42 on Independent Albums and at No. 17 on the Christian Albums chart.
Elevation Worship signed with Essential Records in 2011. "For the Honor," their debut album on a major label, was released on November 21, 2011 on Essential, which it saw chart success on Billboard charts, including No. 1 on Heatseekers, No. 19 on the Christian Albums, and the Billboard 200 at No. 193. "Nothing Is Wasted" was released on February 19, 2013 on Essential, also seeing chart success - No. 1 on the Christian Albums chart and at No. 41 on the Billboard 200.
Only King Forever, their third album on Essential, was released January 14, 2014, debuting at their highest charting position, No. 23 on the Billboard 200. This album was recorded live in Charlotte in 2013.
