'The Woman in Black 2: Angel of Death' Trailer Unveiled! There's No Escaping 'The Woman in Black'
Film reports that the latest official trailer for the upcoming British horror movie "The Woman in Black:Angel of Death" has been released just in time for Halloween 2014. This film's schoolgirl characters escape the London bombings during World War II and end up at Eel Marsh House.
Eve, the schoolgirls' teacher, later realizes that the dark force, which had been living in the house quietly for four decades, was awakened by their presence. One by one, the children start to act strangely. Eve, with the help of local military commander Harry, must act to help the children to survice, which means they must face the Woman In Black.
The initial teaser trailer was first released on October 22, 2013, by Entertainment One UK, while another trailer, released on the same day, can be watched on MovieClips Trailers. The trailers capture the World War II vibe perfectly, and just enough of the movie's scary elements are revealed to leave audiences gasping for more.
Through the trailer footage, viewers are introduced to the children who, with their teacher, move to Eel Marsh House, and are subsequently haunted by unknown shadows, dark elements, and, of course, the Woman In Black.
The film was directed by Tom Harper, and written by Jon Croker, who adapted the screenplay from a story by Susan Hill. Hammer Productions, in partnership with Entertainment One, is the production company behind the film. "The Woman in Black:Angel of Death" will be released in theaters on January 2, 2015, and stars Helen McCrory, Jeremy Irvine, and Phoebe Fox, based upon information in The Independent.
This movie is the sequel of "Woman in Black," a British horror movie directed by James Watkins and written by Jane Goldman, based on Susan Hill's novel of the same title. The first movie, starring Daniel Radcliffe, Ciarán Hinds, Janet McTeer, Sophie Stuckey, and Liz White, was also produced by Hammer Film Productions. "The Woman in Black" garnered US$20 million on its opening weekend in American cinemas, which represented the biggest U.S. opening for a Hammer film in the entire history of the production company at the time. The film also became the highest-grossing British horror film in 20 years, and the sequel's producers hope that the second film performs just as well, or even better, than the first installment.
The book version of the sequel was written by Martin Waites and was released in 2013. However, it was widely panned by critics, who criticized the book for adding nothing to Hill's original—The Guardian's review read: "[it] feels like a case of putting the cart before the ghost."
