Samsung Galaxy Alpha Review - The Good, The Bad, and If It Is Worth the Price
Have you recently passed by a store offering and selling smartphones? If such is the case, then it is highly likely that you encountered a smartphone that looks very much like the Samsung Galaxy S series, but with the sides being covered with metal. You had to do a double take because you saw the logo "Samsung" on the top center part of the screen. You probably even thought you were just seeing things, but no, you did not.
This smartphone from the South Korean company that you saw is the Samsung Galaxy Alpha, the first ever Samsung phone that makes use of materials other than plastic.
According to Recombu, some of the strongest aspects of the Samsung Galaxy Alpha is its design, which is strong and lightweight; its battery life, which is impressively long, taking into consideration all the running aps; and its physical attributes, which have undergone considerable changes from just being made of plastic to now sporting longer-lasting materials including metal.
In fact, possibly the biggest and most welcome change to the new Galaxy Alpha from the South Korean based company is the addition of metal to the set of materials used to construct the smartphone. While Samsung is considered to be the biggest competitor of Apple in terms of powerful, capable, and aesthetically-pleasing devices, its products has always been looked down upon because of their construction. In all Samsung devices, plastic is the key component, as is with the recently launched Galaxy S5, as Recombu also cited.
Expert Reviews UK did point out though that only the sides of the Samsung Galaxy Alpha that have been covered with the stronger materials. Still, in terms of design and build quality, the Galaxy Alpha is quite far from its predecessors seeing that this is the first time that Samsung has tried using materials other than its staple polycarbonate. We have to give it up to Apple's biggest competitor, because it did a pretty good job in incorporating this into their latest flagship phone.
So is the Samsung Galaxy Alpha worth the price it is being offered for? According to Forbes, while the smartphone is far from perfect, with one of its biggest downfalls being the 1850 mAh battery, the price is justifiable.
