Taylor Swift is teasing the third song release off of her upcoming 1989 album. You can listen to a preview of her song "Welcome to New York" above and the full song will be released on iTunes at midnight tonight.
"The first song on 1989 is a song called 'Welcome to New York' and I wanted to start the album with this song because New York has been an important landscape and location for the story of my life in the last couple of years," Taylor shares.
She continues, "You know, I dreamt about moving to New York. I obsessed over moving to New York and then I did it. The inspiration that I found in that city is kind of hard to describe and hard to compare to any other force of inspiration I've ever experienced in my life. It's like an electric city and I approached moving there with such wide-eyed optimism and sort of saw it as a place of endless potential and possibilities. You can kind of hear that reflected in this music and in this first song especially. This is a song I did with Ryan Tedder called 'Welcome to New York.'"
Taylor released her second single "Out of the Woods" last week and there has been speculation that this song is about One Direction's Harry Styles. The song was co-written and produced by FUN guitarist Jack Antonoff.
Fans can purchase "Out of the Woods" on iTunes by clicking here. Swift's full album1989 is scheduled for release on October 27. Swift's first single "Shake It Off" immediately went to No.1 on the Billboard 100.
Taylor shared that the reason for the title was that it is her birth date (December 13, 1989) but also that she likes to have two years in between albums to see her growth in her Yahoo live interview with fans. She shared that her new album would be her first full on pop album and inspired from the music of the 80's that she has been listening to.
"I really loved the chances they were taking. I loved how bold it was," she said. "It was, apparently, a time of limitless potential. ... The idea of endless possibility was kind of a theme in the last year of my life."
