Windows 9 Release Date Unlikely as Microsoft Jumps to Windows 10
It looks like we won't be having a Windows 9 anytime soon as Microsoft recently unveiled its Windows 10 in a launching at San Francisco. According to the popular computer provider, the new operating system will be featuring brand new features that will be a major improvement from the previous OS released which were Windows 8 and 8.1
Interestingly, according to a report by Forbes, the reason why Microsoft skipped the Windows 9 namesake is that "By skipping a number, Microsoft might be repeating a formula they used in their successful transition from panned Windows Vista to Windows 7 which is to create enough cognitive dissonance so that users will forget how bad the previous operating system was."
Though the desktop version was the only one demonstrated by far, there will be a reveal in due time for the mobile gadget and notebook version. Interestingly, Windows 10 will be bringing back the well-loved
Start menu which was lacking from the previous OS. Two notable additional features in the assumed Windows 9 OS will enable users to customize their desktops where it allows users to resize new applications and give them the freedom to drag them around just like in Win32 and also enable multi-tasking through a quadrant.
Those who are using the 2-in-1 computers will also be happy with the promised continuum feature where users can switch from PC to tablet mode and vice versa.
The new assumed Windows 9, or rather Windows 10, is targeted to be officially launched midway next year.
Though there will be neither Windows 9 release date nor a price range, we are sure that the upcoming Windows 10 will be an improvement and will hopefully be well-received by Windows users.
