Home Release Date, Reveals, News and Reviews: Rihanna Gives her Voice to the New Animated Character in DreamWorks Pictures
Rihanna has gone from pop princess to a cartoon character in the upcoming DreamWorks film, Home. The trailer for the movie was released earlier this week and it features Jim Parsons, from the Big Bang Theory as the alien character named Oh. As such, Rihanna will be the voice of the female protagonist of the movie, Tip. However, we do get a taste of the signature Barbadian accent for the role of Tip, but overall Rihanna seems to have an adopted a more Americanized accent in the movie.
The film plot centers on an alien race called Boov and they travel the universe under the leadership of Captain Smek. The Boov come to Earth and find it suitable to settle. They are more advanced and coexist with the humans rather than colonize them. After some time, the human race is relocated to another place and the humans relocate. A human girl escapes and becomes accidental friends with a banished Boov with whom she embarks on for the road-trip to end all road-trips. The story sounds quite interesting and the movie shall undoubtedly be a gem in the DreamWorks crown considering the 135 million dollar price tag.
The director for this installment is Tim Johnson known for Antz and How to train your dragon and he shall be working with producer Chris Jenkins. Apart from Rihanna and Jim Parsons, the other members of the cast include Jennifer Lopez, as Tip's mother and Steve Martin as the leader of the Boov race. The upcoming Dream-works movie is based on Adam Rex's novel titled the "The True Meaning of Smekday." Aside from the star studded cast, the movie appears to be full of laughter and action. According to the Huffington Post, in addition to playing Tip, Rihanna is also working on a special sound track for the movie.
