'The Blacklist Season 2' Premiere Review: Lord Baltimore, a Threat or an Asset?
The Blacklist is an NBC crime drama television series, which revolves on the cooperation of a former criminal with FBI in pursuit of capturing other criminals. It premiered on NBC on September 23, 2013.
The Blacklist swiftly transformed into one of the popular shows in the television in its debut season. Generally, the series chronicles fugitive Raymond Reddington, a former government agent, who became a high-profile criminal. For decades, he evaded capture until he surrenders to the FBI. He worked together with the FBI to seize other criminals from a compilation list that he made.
The second season of The Blacklist premieres with Lord Baltimore. The opening episode scattered dense scenes, which keep viewers curious and excited at the same time. The Blacklist shifts from Raymond 'Red' Reddington's true motives to the restoration of the order at the FBI back site.
The episode starts off with Red as he continues to combat Berlin. Until then, he encounters a new challenge - a threat or an asset, in the person of Lord Baltimore. Lord Baltimore, a significant person coming from the past, is now entering Red's world.
Some highlights include Red, an international criminal, continuously working with the FBI to capture other criminals. In this second season, he will be teaming up with Liz in order to find Berlin. Berlin is the season 1 antagonist who has evaded Red for many years. More than this, the viewers should also watch out for additional hints regarding Red's probable association with Liz.
The Blacklist put forward a major confrontation at the end of its first season. Some characters had faced their death, some became emotionally unstable, some are concealing themselves, and some have the mixture of the three.
The second season exemplifies twists of events due to the aftermaths from the first season. The plot behind the Berlin incident now becomes clearer. As of the black site, it is now being run by provisional director Martin. Temporary characters smoothly weave in and out in the scenes; this shows a noteworthy pliability in the flow of the storyline.
In the past season, The Blacklist utilized various science-fiction elements such as the villains and the environment. The producers attempted to integrate such elements into the second season. Excellent scene arrangement also helped in introducing the main characters, along with some guest stars. Interestingly, familiar faces can be seen, such as Krysten Ritter and Mary-Louise Parker, to name a few.
International Critics' Prize awardee Director Joe Carnahan piloted the series. It is also written and executive produced by PGA Award nominee John Eisendrath, and writer Jon Bokenkamp.
The Blacklist Season 2 stars James Spader as Raymond 'Red' Reddington, Megan Boone as Elizabeth 'Liz' Keen, and Peter Stormare as Berlin. There are rumors that there are something between the two characters in the story, which can be unveiled in the succeeding episodes.
NBC's 2013 hit, The Blacklist had its highly anticipated season 2 debut last September 22, 2014, Monday at 10PM EDT on NBC Season Premiere. For sure, new twists will be discovered and new faces will be introduces in the succeeding episodes.
