Kyle Sherman Takes "Jesus Take the Wheel" for Another Ride
Kyle Sherman has just released his brand new single "Jesus Take the Wheel," the lead single to be taken from his upcoming sophomore album slated for a spring 2015 release. "Jesus, Take the Wheel" is a song written by Brett James, Hillary Lindsey and Gordie Sampson, and was first recorded by country music artist Carrie Underwood. It was released in October 2005 as the first single from Underwood's debut album "Some Hearts."
The ballad tells of a woman seeking help from Jesus in an emergency, ultimately letting Jesus take control of her life. The Country-Christian song became a crossover hit, spending time at number one on the Country chart as well as peaking at number four on the Hot Christian Songs chart. The song ranked number four on CMT's 40 Greatest Songs of the Decade. After an exclusive debut on Sirius XM's "The Message," the song is available wide for download today on iTunes.
"I'm so excited about this new single and country-pop rendition of 'Jesus, Take the Wheel!' The message of the song is relatable to everyone," says Sherman. "It's the theme of letting go and letting Jesus direct our lives regardless of our circumstances. He is our hope."
Over the past year, Sherman has toured with Francesca Battistelli, The Afters, Third Day, Jamie Grace, Phil Wickham, and more. Having released his debut album Hear Me in 2012, Sherman worked alongside highly-acclaimed producer and country singer-songwriter Mark Collie (Martina McBride, Tim McGraw, Willie Nelson). Together, they provided a project that stylistically fit within the environment of a downtown bar room as much as it did in a suburban megachurch. Hear Me launched Sherman into stardome with his first radio single, "Come to Me," as well as the Easter ballad "The Greatest Tear" and the understated, yet beautifully anthemic chorus "Hallelujah."
Prior to his accomplishments as an artist, Sherman spent a decade as a worship leader. He began leading worship at his local church as a teenager, progressed to Dallas Baptist University, where he graduated as the campus worship pastor, and finally took a full-time role as a worship leader at Lifechurch.TV. It was here that Lifechurch.TV attendees and RayLynn and Texas Rangers owners, Bob and Janice Simpson, approached Kyle with the possibility of making him the label's flagship artist.
