Guardians of the Galaxy 2 Premieres July 28, 2017, Star-Lord's Father & New Characters Revealed in Sequel

American superhero movie Guardians of the Galaxy will be having its sequel, scheduled for a release on July 28, 2017, as Guardians of the Galaxy 2. The film features the Marvel Comics superhero team of the same name, produced by Marvel Studios and distributed by Walt Disney Studios Motion Pictures.

The first Guardians of the Galaxy movie was released last July 31, and was well-praised, receiving some of the best reviews of 2014 and a box office hit.

It was made official at San Diego Comic-Con 2014 that writer/director James Gunn will be returning for the film's sequel where he was seen with Chris Pratt on a video presentation during the announcement of the project's official release date. Director Gunn also mentioned in an interview that we can expect new characters to join the team as he is hoping that there will be at least two female characters in the second Guardians movie.

It is also said that the movie character Peter Quill or Star-Lord (Chris Pratt) will be looking for his real father in the sequel movie. Director Gunn says that Quill's father is "definitely not the character who it is in the comics".

In other news, Drax the Destroyer (Dave Bautista) of the Guardians movie is about to have a major role in The Avengers 3 movie, as director Gunn mentioned that there might be a crossover of the Guardians and the Avengers. The said crossover movie is rumored to come out in 2018.

Guardians of the Galaxy 2 is officially scheduled for release on July 28, 2017.
