Live- Action Teen Titans TV Series in Development: Nearing a Pilot Order from TNT
The Teen Titans are a group of young superheroes whose lead by Batman's sidekick, Robin. The Teen Titans have been in many comic book stories as well as animated TV shows over the years but it has not yet been made for a live-action TV series. Deadline and The Wall Street Journal reported that a live-action television adaptation of the 'Titans' is currently under development.
Oscar winner Akiva Goldsman is writing the pilot along with Marc Haimes. Goldsman is known for writing films such as 'A Beautiful Mind,' 'The Da Vinci Code,' and has also written superhero films in the 90's for 'Batman Forever' and 'Batman and Robin.' He was also attached to make a live-action film for the Teen Titans, but it was never made. Both Goldsman and Haimes will executive produce the show.
The new television series will only be called as 'Titans,' dropping the word 'Teen' for it will most likely resemble their 1980's incarnation in the comic series called 'New Titans,' and will focus on the 20-something year old Nightwing (formerly Robin) along with heroes such as Starfire, Raven, and Cyborg. Cyborg will also make an appearance in the upcoming Batman V. Superman: Dawn of Justice, but it will most likely be set in a different universe. DC Comics and Warner Bros. have made it adamant that they will not create a shared universe with any of their television series.
Warner Bros. will be premiering numerous shows this fall which are Arrow, The Flash, Gotham and Constantine, and it seems that they are really making most out of the popularity of superhero TV series. The Titans TV series might not make it to pilot like most TV series under development, but it's good to know that audiences will be given variety if it ever does make it to TV.
