Motorola Moto 360 vs Apple iWatch: Are Smartwatches worth It?
Motorola Moto 360 vs Apple iWatch: Are Smartwatches worth It?
Does the world need iWatches? The question can be pretty subjective, and technology nowadays creates more needs than it fills. Like it or not, the iWatch is here-probably to stay. And Motorola has set the pace.
A Stunning Beauty with Loads of Brains:
The first thing that will strike you about the Moto 360 smartwatch is its stunning looks. Motorola has correctly opted for sheer style and form in order to attract consumers over pointless features, which would be of use only to hardcore geeks. Moto 360 is a piece of art and technology combined. It's not only a smartwatch that can send e-mails and downloads third-party apps, it's a piece of jewellery to fall in love with and flaunt.
But its looks are not the only thing that most people would buy a Moto 360, the first smartwatch. The watch actually has some pretty good technology under the cover. The Moto 360 is one step ahead right now, and has already defined the qualities of a Best in Class smartwatch. When Apple does unveil its iWatch it had better keep up to these minimum standards in what is called wearable technology. There seems to be only one way how Apply can seriously compete with the Moto 360: By giving its smartwatch a fashion statement to match the latter.
The iOS Makes a World of Difference:
Apple needs to have a killer iOS that is fully compatible and wearer-friendly. As a matter of fact, as some reviewers have pointed out, with which this one wholly agrees, the iWatch OS will be the first to run on piece of jewellery or fashion accessory. Hence its design and software mechanisms would be more important than any other UI design in Apple's history.
There are indications that Apple might develop a special iOS. Other reports suggest the iWatch will use iOs 8th's HealthKit as well as HomeKit, triggering all kinds of potential usages of the iWatch. In short, Apple needs a big USP to prove that the smartwatch concept is actually desirable. It has made a decent start with application such as payments, fitness tracking and connected homes, apart from the usual apps.
Wireless Charging and Sensors:
If a smartwatch has a watch battery that cannot last 24 hours it might as well not be made. Moto 360 barely addresses that issue by having its battery last for 24 hours on a single charge. Any smartwatch will need elements of wireless charging to ease the task of charging it everyday. Advanced sensors are other apps that can add value to a smartwatch.
