The 'Walking Dead' Spin Off News: Companion Series Update - AMC Orders Pilot Episodes and Production Starts this Year
Screen rush reported that the AMC network has now made an official order for a pilot episode of a companion series for the Walking Dead.
Walking Dead Companion Series Update from AMC
Screen rush quoted AMC's reaction to the Walking Dead spin off / companion series rumors. AMC official statement reads, "Almost from the beginning of The Walking Dead on AMC, fans have been curious about what is going on in the zombie apocalypse in other parts of the world. In fact, beyond requests for zombie cameos, it's the question I get asked the most. Obviously, we all take our stewardship of the original franchise incredibly seriously and we, along with Robert, Gale, David and now Dave, are all proceeding with extreme care in order to ensure that we are offering fans something truly compelling, engaging and distinct. We're thrilled to be taking this next step with these remarkable partners."
The Walking Dead Companion Series Cast and Release Date
Entertainment Weekly can only confirm that AMC has already ordered and received a pilot episode script for the Walking Dead companion series. As of now there is no official title and not one cast has been named either. The good news is this companion series will be starting production before the year ends.
Companion Series Not a Spin Off
The production set will be in a different location and the new cast will not include any of the original members of the Walking Dead. Which according to industry insiders make the series as a companion of The Walking Dead and not a "spinoff". Dave Erickson is expected to be the show runner of this new companion series.
