Archer Season 6 Release Date: Show Will Continue until 2016
Archer is an adult animated series that airs on FX and is created by Adam Reed. It has been confirmed a few months back that the series has not only been renewed for a sixth season, but also for a seventh season as well. Each season consisting of 13 episodes.
FX has been known to keep their shows on air as long as possible and the renewal of a sixth season is not a big surprise, but the seventh season is kind of a shocker. Viewership of the Archer has been a little shaky, but the network seems to have faith in the animated show. Being nominated for a Primetime Emmy Award for Outstanding Animated Program this year has proven that the show does have substantial value. With a seventh season confirmed, the show will run till 2016 and may or may not be renewed for another season, depending of course on the FX network.
With that in mind, Season 6 has been confirmed to go back to the show's original format, abandoning season 5's reboot of the on-the-road drug cartel storyline. "I sort of felt some pressure to shake it up a little bit, but I think that might have been self-applied pressure-especially judging by the initial response, which was, 'What the heck is this? I don't want this!' But I thought it would be fun and it was one of those things that snowballed in a meeting where we were laughing and talking about story ideas, and then everyone got really jazzed about it. And then FX was like, 'Yeah, that sounds fine.' It's a rare, lucky relationship to have. We had a really good time doing it but are happy to be coming back home," says Creator Adam Reed on the shift from the spy format to the drug cartel format. "There will be a lot of missions," added Reed on season 6.
Archer Season 6 will back sometime in 2015.
