'The Boxtrolls' Movie Release Date September 2014, Starring Elle Fanning Unveils New Extended Trailer Featurette, Watch Here (VIDEO)
The upcoming 3D stop-motion animation movie The Boxtrolls from Focus Features has released a new extended featurette trailer, which you can check out above.
The Boxtrolls stars Isaac Hempstead-Wright, Ben Kingsley, Elle Fanning, Toni Collette, Jared Harris, Simon Pegg, Nick Frost, Richard Ayoade and Tracy Morgan. You can watch the new released trailer teaser above.
Plot: The film tells the story of an orphaned boy named Eggs (Isaac Hempstead-Wright) who was raised under the streets of Cheesebridge by underground cave-dwelling trash collectors called the Boxtrolls. The Boxtrolls are targeted by an evil exterminator named Archibald Snatcher (Ben Kingsley), and Eggs has to save his family from Snatcher. Winnie is played by Elle Fanning. The townspeople believe that the 'monsters' come out at night to steal their children and their cheeses. At least, that's the legend the townspeople have always believed. In reality, the Boxtrolls are a community of lovable oddballs who are raising as one of their own an abandoned and orphaned human boy named Eggs.
The Boxtrolls is directed by Graham Annable and Anthony Stacchi, produced by Travis Knight and Alan Snow and written by Irena Brignull and Adam Pava. It is set to release to theaters in the U.S. on September 26th, 2014.
In June 2008, Laika unveiled a slate of projects in development, among which was also an animated feature film adaptation of the Alan Snow novel Here Be Monsters!. Animation technique not yet decided, Anthony Stacchi was set to direct the film. Laika announced on February 7, 2013, that the adaptation will be their next 3D stop motion feature under the title The Boxtrolls. Directed by Stacchi and Graham Annable, it was scheduled to be released on October 17, 2014, before it moved up in May 2013 to September 26, 2014. Focus Features will hold worldwide distribution rights to The Boxtrolls, and Universal Pictures International will release the movie overseas (with eOne Distribution handling Canada).
