'The Voice' Season 7 Release Date September 2014, New Coach Gwen Stefani's Husband Gavin Rossdale Joins Show as Mentor

"The Voice" Season 7 premieres in a few weeks on NBC and new coach Gwen Stefani will be bringing in her husband, Bush frontman Gavin Rossdale, on the show to be her guest mentor during the 'battle rounds'. 

Gavin, 48, spoke with Rolling Stone about working on new the season of "The Voice" with his wife Gwen Stefani as a mentor.

"It was fun to both be together at work. It was important to me to be really open to it. Obviously, my journey through music is completely antithetical to what that show is about. What's the point of trying to wave that flag? I like how it brings people together," Gavin shared. "When you meet those people coming in, they have great voices and they've all worked a long time. It takes a long time to sing like that. They sound really good. You can't help but get emotionally involved with those people. You see how much it means to them."

Gwen bragged on her husband about stepping into the mentor role with the contestants. "He is super articulate and he has a really good opinion and he is smart and he's been doing a really good job," she said. "We both have, I think, a lot of experience in the sense that when you look back at all the shows and all the things we've done - and I mean, we all met like touring together and doing hundreds of shows - and it's so fun to be in the position to meet [all of the contestants]."

"The Voice" has been able to keep up the success of the show through judging changes over the years with Shakira filling in two seasons for Christina Aguilera and Usher filling in for Ceelo. The judges chemistry is a big part of the success of the NBC reality show. 

"The Voice" has always had great chemistry between the coaches and we doubt Gwen and Pharrell Williams will lack any whit or fire-power to be able to hang with the good hearted trash talking that always seems to take place between Adam Levine and Blake Shelton.
