Jason Mraz and Sara Bareilles Give Powerful Performance of Carole King's "Beautiful" Live in Surprise Appearance, Watch Here (VIDEO)
Popular singer/songwriters Jason Mraz and Sara Bareilles treated fans to a special performance at Mraz's show at the Pantages on August 28th. Sara Bareilles made a surprise appearance and the two sang a beautiful duet of Carole King's "Beautiful," honoring his musical theater roots at a musical theater venue. You can check out a video of the performance above.
"Thank you @SaraBareilles for being so generous with your time & heart. Twas a PLEASURE singing with you last night," Jason tweeted after the performance.
Mraz released his new album YES! on July 15th from Atlantic Records. This was the Grammy Award winner's fifth studio album and is a full acoustic album 'containing songs about love, friendship, healing, hope, and consciousness' according to his website.
Mraz is currently touring the U.S. in support of his new album and will be heading to Europe, Asia, and Australia in the fall and South America in 2015.
YES! was produced by Mraz along with Mike Mogis (Bright Eyes, First Aid Kit, Rilo Kiley), was recorded in rural Omaha, Nebraska and inland Oceanside, California. Even though it is an acoustic album, YES! still has a good pop sensibility like his previous albums and features classical instruments, cello, sitar and vintage guitars and sings about universal themes of love, faith, healing, environmental stewardship and inner peace.
Bareilles just performed at the 66th Emmy Awards last Monday, August 25, from the Nokia Theatre in L.A. as the music for the Memoriam segment to celebrate all of the entertainment industry people that have passed away in the past year. The segment was closed by actor/comedian Billy Crystal sharing about his friend and acting peer Robin Williams who tragically died on August 11th.
