You Can Be Part of Christa Wells' Forthcoming Covers Album
Singer and songwriter Christa Wells is poised to record and release a brand new covers album. Together with producer Ben Shive, they are going to add their creative re-imaginations to a series of mainstream songs from the late 80s to late 90s. You can be part of this very special project by visiting and donating towards it via Kickstarter: https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/235687971/christa-wells-the-covers-project
Christa Wells is a Christian singer and song writer. She has written some of the biggest hits in Christian music including Natalie Grant's "Held," Plumb's "Need You Now (How Many Times)," Selah's "On the Mountain," and many others. She had recently released her critically acclaimed album "Feed Your Soul." Prior to "Feed Your Soul," Christa recorded one solo album and two EPs (Frame the Clouds, Before the Tree Comes Down, How Emptiness Sings) and collaborated on several other projects. In spring of 2013, Christa and fellow songwriter Nicole Witt released an album of folk-inspired music under the band name More Than Rubies. Christa's 2011 EP How Emptiness Sings received excellent reviews. Kevin Davis of New Release Tuesday called it "one of the most captivating albums I've ever heard."
Here's what Christa has to say about her upcoming album: "It's a covers album, reimagining some songs from the late 80s-late 90s that producer Ben Shive and I loved and were influenced/inspired by. Needless to say, these songs mattered to more people than just us. The songs are mostly from mainstream music, as that's where I spent most of my time during those years. I find it an awesome thing how the human experience brings us together and so often reflects truth and beauty - reflects the Story of God - even when the songwriter/artist doesn't embrace the Gospel. I'm always looking for glimpses of the Story wherever I go - in films, books, music, relationships - so it's exciting to me to revisit these songs that made me want to grow up and write songs of my own.
We're asking for $12,000 but hoping for more so that we can record more than 5 songs and invite more audience participation in the song selection process. It's been very fun to already be receiving emails and messages from people with lists of their favorites from that decade. :) Our Kickstarter campaign ends the evening of AUG 29 (10 days from now). "
