Pillar Reunites And Participates In Annual Home Run For The Homeless Softball Game
Rob Beckley, lead singer of recently reunited Christian rock band, Pillar, is participating in the seventh annual Home Run for the Homeless softball game to benefit Tulsa Day Center for the Homeless on May 29, in Oklahoma.
The event is an annual celebrity softball game that takes place at ONEOK Field in Tulsa, Oklahoma. It pits the Orange Radio/Writers Team against the Green TV Team and ultimately raises money for the Tulsa Day Center, which serves an average of 400 people everyday, according to the Run For The Homeless website. The mission of the center is to encourage the homeless to achieve self-sufficiency in a safe and healthy environment.
Beckley joined names like Adley Stump, from 'The Voice,' and Danny Cahill, from 'Biggest Loser,' on the field to raise money for the homeless. He has raised about $245 out of the $300 goal that he has set for himself. All of the team members as a whole have raised a combined $1,990 for the homeless so far. Donations are still coming in, however.
Pillar Music tweeted on May 29, "Today is the day! Playing a charity softball game with a lot of well known Oklahoma people. Adley from the Voice and Danny Cahill from Biggest Loser are a couple. If you can't come watch then you can donate to the cause here: http://tinyurl.com/p5cdkqr. Just click on my name and give to Tulsa Day Center as they fight for the homeless in the Tulsa metro area."
The band is comprised of Oklahoma natives, and they were able to see the devastation of the tornado earlier this month. "Our hearts and prayers go out to our fellow Oklahomans who suffered the worst kind of loss yesterday," the band had tweeted on May 21.
Pillar made a 'official statement,' by means of an online video in early May, that they will be reuniting in the summer of 2013 and making a new record. They are currently in the process of creating their new album and the band offered a preview of one of the songs they are working on for the album on theirFacebook page. The band will also be joining names like Chris Tomlin, Hawk Nelson, Sidewalk Prophets and more as part of the 2013 Big Ticket Festival, taking place from June 20-22 in Gaylord, Michigan.
