Sarah Kroger Offers a Worshipful Rendition of "Silent Night"
Sarah Kroger ushers in the festive season with a soothing and worshipful rendition of "Silent Night." The song is her favorite Christmas hymn and one she grew up singing in church; a familiar seasonal classic that listeners perhaps come to going through the motions. Yet, Sarah Kroger hopes to highlight the lyrics and how the song takes us on a journey.
She approaches "Silent Night" as an invitation to meditate on the incarnation of Jesus: "With the feeling of a lullaby, we're invited to imagine Mary and Joseph on that holy night as they grapple with their new reality as parents to the Son of God," she explained.
"Silent Night" invites us to ponder on the innocence and vulnerability of Christ born as a tiny child on a night when the world was changed forever. With her rendition, Sarah Kroger seeks to remind listeners that God took on flesh to walk among us and that he was indeed Lord at His birth.
Kroger is a Nashville-based, catholic worship leader and songwriter who has released five albums: Your time (2011,) Hallelujah Is Our Song (2013,) Bloom (2019,) Light (2020,) and her latest live album, The London Sessions (2023.) She is part of the multi-cultural trio Village Lights as well as the female collective FAITHFUL, two enterprises that are a testament to her prolific creativity and talent.
