Here Are the Lyrics & Video of Housefires' "Lean on the Lord (feat. Ryan Ellis & Cecily)"
Housefires released its new single "Lean on the Lord (feat. Ryan Ellis & Cecily)," a track that follows the group's "Only Jesus (feat. Kirby Kaple, Chandler Moore & DOE)" (10.28). These songs are the first of new music from the group's album How To Start A Housefire, out Jan. 27 via Capitol CMG/ TRIBL Records.
Housefires is credited with reviving the way worship songs are written, recorded and experienced, embracing its sound within by visually demonstrating the community. The group's core consists of Davy Flowers, Ryan Ellis, Cecily, Kirby Kaple, Chandler Moore, DOE, Ahjah Walls, Blake Wiggins, Harvest Grapevine, Nate Moore and KJ Scriven - together offering an unrefined sound that's free of the safety and restraints that a normal studio, and even a live recording set, often offers.
Here are lyrics:
[Intro: Cecily & Ryan Ellis, Ryan Ellis]
Lean on, lean on
Lean on, lean on (Yeah)
[Verse 1: Cecily]
I remember when I was just a kid
Didn't worry 'bout a thing, the world was simple then
But it's different now and hard to figure out
At some point I've got to learn to lay my questions down
[Pre-Chorus: Cecily]
(Oh-oh)
I've tried to make sense of it all but I just can't
(Oh-oh)
When I don't understand
[Chorus: Ryan Ellis & Cecily]
I lean on the Lord
Lean on the Lord
Some things don't make sense
But one thing's for sure
When I lean on You, Lord
Lean on You, Lord
Somehow Your love gives mе the strength to go on
So I lean on thе Lord
[Post-Chorus: Cecily]
Lean on, lean on
(Lean on, lean on)
Lean on, lean on
[Verse 2: Cecily & Ryan Ellis]
You didn't fail me then, You won't fail me now
If I'm still breathing there's a reason that I'm still around
So I will trust in You and put my hope in You
Keep me on the straight and narrow, oh, just like You do
[Pre-Chorus: Cecily]
(Oh-oh)
I've tried to make sense of it all but I just can't
(Oh-oh)
When I don't understand
I lean on the Lord
Lean on the Lord
Some things don't make sense
But one thing's for sure
When I lean on You, Lord
Lean on You, Lord
Somehow Your love gives me the strength to go on
So I lean on the Lord
[Post-Chorus: Cecily, Ryan Ellis]
Lean on, lean on (Yeah)
(Lean on, lean on) (Come on)
Lean on, lean on
(Lean on, lean on)
[Bridge: Cecily & Ryan Ellis]
Your word, Your grace, Your strength
I'm learning how to lean on
Your word, Your grace, Your strength
I'm learning how to lean on
Your word, Your grace, Your strength
I'm learning how to lean on
Your word, Your grace, Your strength
I'm learning how to-
