Kelly Price Who Was Reported Missing is Found
On September 18, the family of R&B and Gospel Music artist Kelly Price reported that the singer has been missing. However, Price has been found, she has revealed that she has been recently discharged after contracting COVID-19. For three weeks Price was admitted to the hospital and had contacted her kids upon her release.
In a video interview with TMZ published Sunday (Sept. 26), the gospel and R&B singer explained that her "disappearance" was due to her being unable to have visitors, as she had contracted COVID-19 -- and a very serious case at that. "At one point, they lost me," the Grammy-nominated singer said of her medical team, later clarifying, "I died." She added that when she finally woke up a few days later, the first thing she remembered were the doctors around her "asking me if I knew what year it was."
Price posted a message to her followers on Instagram, thanking them for keeping her in their thoughts. "Thank you for your love, concern, and prayers. I truly appreciate them and all of you who sincerely did them. They are not lost on me. I promise," she wrote. "I'm going back into solace and silence where I can put things first and that is to be restored, to be healthy and to be whole."
Earlier this year, Price released her new gospel project, Grace. The six-track EP features the lead single, "Grace," and an accompanying lyric video. Price poured her heart into the new album, and used it as a healing tool after losing her grandfather early in the 2020 pandemic, followed by the sudden passing of her mother at the end of the year.
The release of Grace comes 15 years after Price's acclaimed gospel album, This Is Who I Am, hit No. 1 on Billboard's Top Gospel Albums chart and landed in the top ten of the Top R&B/Hip-Hop Albums chart.
"From her iconic vocals to her vast songwriting catalog, Kelly Price's contributions to hip-hop, R&B and gospel music cannot be overstated," said EJ Gaines, Co-Executive Director, Motown Gospel. "We're excited to partner with her as she shares her craft, and her heart, with the world."
"Whatever side of me that people have loved through the years, be it R&B or gospel, they are going to get all of that on this album," Price said. "I let my team know that I needed to get back to work to finish this project and get my message out. I couldn't imagine going through 2020 without having a foundation of faith and a strong belief in God."
