Jeff Carson and Lisa Brokop's "God Save the World:" A 16 Year-Old Dream Come True
When Jeff Carson first released his duet with Lisa Brokop 16 years ago, "God Save the World" tanked. The single released by MCC/Curb Records failed to make an impression at radio, that it failed to chart. Carson, who previously had country hits (such as "Yeah Buddy," "Not on Your Love," and "The Car") on the country chart, was already experiencing a dry spell on the radio by 2005.
A couple of years later, Carson makes another stab at radio when he released "When You Said You Loved Me," the lead-off single to an upcoming Greatest Hits package. The single failed to chart, however, and his Greatest Hits album was cancelled.
In February 2009, he retired from the music business and joined the Franklin, Tennessee police force as a full-time police officer. "Being in law enforcement was something that I've always wanted to do," Carson said on his MySpace page then. He added that he looked upon his graduation from the Tennessee State Police Academy in December as his "proudest moment." A news release from the Franklin Police Department noted that he graduated with a shooting average of 99.6.
Though Carson has had never given up on his music career completely, he wasn't expecting a resurgence either. This year the pandemic has raised interest in his 16 year-old single "God Save the World." The song which speaks of how God cares enough to help us in our times of our needs strike a chord with many during this pandemic. As a result of radio's interest, MCC/Curb Records have partnered with Carson and Brokop to re-release the single.
"I'm excited about the re-release of "God Save The World" from the earlier recording with Lisa Brokop," shares Carson. "I have always loved Lisa's voice and have always thought this version sounds wonderful. I can't tell you how excited I am to have a new release on Curb records. They brought me to the dance."

"Music has been and will always be my first passion," expresses Carson. "I was just fortunate enough to have a law enforcement career to fall back on. That was always my second passion."
