Mitch Wong Reflects on Co-Writing and Singing with Darlene Zschech

Prolific songwriter Mitch Wong has recently co-written with Dustin Smith and Darlene Zschech on Zschech's brand new Integrity Music single 'Soli Deo Gloria'. Wong, known for writing hit songs for Planetshakers, Lincoln Brewster, Paul Baloche and many others, also gets to sing with Zschech on this single. 

The title is a Latin term for 'Glory to God alone' and legendary musicians such as Johann Sebastian Bach and George Frideric Handel would sign off their manuscripts with this phrase again and again... declaring that their creative offerings were for the sake of praising God alone.

Wong speaks about how the song was written: "I had the privilege of co-writing this song with @darlenezschech and @herebedustin in February, in a time when we hadn't yet faced the chaos and turmoil that 2020 has since brought. It felt incredibly special and weighty in the room, and it still does today. I'm so honoured that this song is helping to carry on a legacy that is hundreds of years old."

Never taking for granted to be able to sing with Zschech, Wong gasps: "I am truly humbled and beyond honoured to sing this with you Darlene, your faith and love for the Lord has irreversibly changed my life and the lives of countless others. I don't have enough words to express how deeply grateful I am for you, for your heart, for when you have pressed in and interceded when no one else is watching and for teaching a generation to pursue Jesus and nothing else." 

Reflecting on his first attempt behind the microphone, Wong reflects: "Most of all I am honoured to sing this for my God, my King, my everything. Without Him I am nothing and in Him I find everything. He is worthy of all our worship, right now, tomorrow and forever. My prayer is that if you listen to this song, you'll allow it to bring you into humble reverence of our awesome, incredible God. I pray that it would turn your attention to His holiness and that any troubles you may be facing right now would fade in the light of His brilliance. May we never lose the reverence, the respect and the holy fear that our God deserves. Be blessed, and all glory to God alone."
