Rita Springer Shares the Inspiration Behind New Song "There Is A Power" (featuring Dante Bowe)
"There Is A Power" (featuring Dante Bowe) is the first release from veteran worship leader Rita Springer's upcoming release "LIGHT," which releases later in the summer. The song was written by Rita Springer, Aaron Robertson and Tommy Iceland and produced by Jeremy Edwardson (Kari Jobe, Bethel Music).
Springer shares the story behind "There is a Power:" "When this song was written in the fall of 2019 I felt something on it. It wasn't talked about like it carried much, I just felt God say something to me about it's relevance. When my sweet friend Kalley Heiligenthal lost her daughter Olive, I stormed around shouting this song in my head, and we watched that power awaken people even in the midst of our desire for Him to awaken Olive.
When it came time to record this song, another sweet friend Steffany Gretzinger and I had plans of singing this live together. Then, her precious father went home to be with Jesus and was unable to join us for the recording. I went back to ask God who would replace her voice. He clearly said "Dante Bowe", and Dante graciously said, "Yes!" I didn't know what God was up too. We just sang it like we knew God would use it. Two days after this recording racial tensions burst open and our country was in the peril of change. I could not help but feel so honored as a mother, that this young son of worship would sing this song about the power of God with me. Together, black and white, with my own beautiful black child watching from the control room, it felt timed by God. What can truly change us but the power of a God who designed and hand threaded every color there ever was?!
To acknowledge that there is something in a room that you believe can change the dynamics of that room is to move toward awareness. We live in a world changed by pandemic and politics. We seem fueled by motive and opinion. Let's all lean in to the whisper, "There is POWER in this room, and any darkness has to move!" "In the name of Jesus there is power, in the name of Jesus there is healing."
