RiZen's Lead Singer Adriann Lewis-Freeman Scores a Top 30 Hit with "You Been So Good"
Powerhouse singer, Adriann Lewis-Freeman, best-known as the lead-vocalist for the traditional gospel girl group - RiZen quartet, has just jumped a major hurdle in launching her solo career. Her bold, brassy, up-tempo new radio single, "You Been So Good," lands at No. 30 on this week's Billboard Gospel Airplay chart. It's the first-ever solo chart entry for the Saginaw, Michigan native.
The soulful song highlights and celebrates the goodness of God. It's a sentiment that is especially relevant in light of the COVID-19 coronavirus pandemic that has gripped the globe over the last few weeks. Like most Americans, Lewis-Freeman and her husband Darin Freeman (Pastor of Nashville's Tabernacle Baptist Church), have secluded themselves in their Nashville home ever since the Trump Administration encouraged the public to practice social-distancing to reduce the spread of the dreaded illness.
In spite of the Freemans' isolation, they are continuing to work. Lewis-Freeman, who is also an Honors English teacher, has been communicating with her students online and via telephone so that they stay on top of their studies while the Montgomery County-Clarksville school system is temporarily closed. "We're still working on pushing Adriann's single further up the charts by calling radio stations," says Pastor Freeman. "We're also writing new music, doing a lot of praying and also thanking God that He's been so good through all of this tragedy."
RiZen burst onto the gospel music scene in 2003 with Lewis-Freeman leading their breakthrough radio smash "View the City" which earned them a Stellar Gospel Music Award as New Artist of the Year. When the group took a hiatus circa 2010, Lewis-Freeman returned to school and earned a master's degree. She began to teach middle school but in 2018, she returned to her first love and began recording music again as a solo artist and now the rest is history.
