Justin Bieber Seeks Prayers as He Struggles with Lyme Disease

After speculation over social media that pop singer Justin Bieber has a "drug" problem via his increasingly dishevelled appearance, Bieber reveals that he is battling debilitating Lyme disease. Bieber, an attender of Hillsong Church in New York City, has also asked fans to pray for him.

Sharing a screenshot of a story posted by TMZ that broke the news about his Lyme disease diagnosis, he wrote: "While a lot of people kept saying justin Bieber looks like s..t, on meth etc. they failed to realize I've been recently diagnosed with Lyme disease, not only that but had a serious case of chronic mono which affected my, skin, brain function, energy, and overall health."I've been recently diagnosed with Lyme disease, not only that but had a serious case of chronic mono which affected my skin, brain function, energy, and overall health.

"These things will be explained further in a docu series I'm putting on YouTube shortly.. you can learn all that I've been battling and OVERCOMING!!"

He added: "It's been a rough couple years but getting the right treatment that will help treat this so far incurable disease and I will be back and better than ever NO CAP."

Bieber revealed last month that he is to star in a documentary series which will give fans a look at the making of his first new album in more than four years.

Lyme disease is a tick-borne infection caused by bacteria in the Borrelia burgdorferi sensu lato group. The first symptom is usually a characteristic pink or red rash that starts as a small red spot that gradually spreads in a much larger circle with a characteristic bulls-eye appearance called erythema migrans. This normally happens between 3 and 32 days after being bitten by an infected tick. Not everyone with Lyme disease gets the rash. There may also be fever, headaches, tiredness. Joint pains are particularly prominent with infections acquired in North America.

If left untreated, the Lyme disease infection can spread through the bloodstream and can cause infection in the brain and membranes surrounding the brain (meningo-encephalitis) and infection in or around the heart (endocarditis, myocarditis or pericarditis). The disease can also cause inflammation of joints and cause joint pain and long-term neurological symptoms.
