Kanye West Releases 'Jesus Is Born’ on Christmas Day
Hip-hop artist Kanye West has made good his promise by releasing Jesus is Born on Christmas Day. Jesus Is Born is his first full-length recorded effort with the Sunday Service choir and it features 19 tracks.
The album includes a number of classic gospel songs, as well as new gospel renditions of Kanye West hits like The Life of Pablo's "Ultralight Beam" and "Father Stretch My Hands." West initially announced the album during an interview about Jesus Is King on Beats 1 Radio.
The album marked West's second foray into gospel music with the Sunday Service Choir. He released his first effort, Jesus Is King, under his own name this past October. It reached No. 1 on four different charts including the Hot Christian Album, Hot Gospel Album, R&B/Hip Hop Album and the Billboard 200 charts. And became West's ninth consecutive chart-topping debut, tying the record held by rapper Eminem. Jesus is Born is a more traditional approach to gospel, where its predecessor brought in elements of hip hop and electronic music.
