Beverly Crawford Celebrates Her #1 Gospel Album "Thank You For All You've Done" in this Exclusive Interview
Beverly Crawford returns with a #1 Billboard Gospel Album "Thank You For All You've Done." And already in the radio airwaves everywhere is her hit "Sweeping Through the City." We are so honored to be able to catch up with Beverly Crawford for this exclusive Hallels' interview:
Hallels: Thank you Ms. Crawford for doing this interview. How does it feel to have your latest album "Thank You For All You've Done" top the Billboard Gospel Album chart?
It is an awesome feeling to have a no.1 album after being in the industry for so long and to get it unexpectedly now is a real joy. I am just so excited about this cd and thank God for its success so far.
Hallels: Let's talk about the album itself. The album was recorded live. Do you feel more comfortable doing a live album as compared to a studio recording?
I feel that when I do my recordings live that I am in my element. I love feeding off the energy of the audience and you cannot program live recordings because you never know what's going to happen and the spontaneity is what lets the Holy Ghost have his way.
Hallels: Why did you decide to cover "Sweeping Through the City"? What does this song mean to you?
I was asked to sing "Sweeping Through The City" at a BMI Tribute to Shirley Ceasar awhile back and it received such a good response that we decided to record it. Shirley Caesar is my mentor, so for me to do a song that's so associated with her makes it very personal and special for me.
Hallels: "Hero" is a very personal song to you. Can you tell us more about this song?
My Daughter wrote this song in honor of my Father Bishop Walter Camps Sr. who passed away in December 2007. It is a song that speaks about all the heroes in our lives and I let a Pastor listen to "Hero" and he cried because he said his daughter had just told him he was her hero.
Hallels: After all these years of leading worship, what is the most challenging aspect of being a worship leader?
As a worship leader I want to make sure I do not lose focus on the ministry aspect of what I do and that's the biggest challenge for any psalmist is to separate ministry from entertainment.
Hallels: If our readers would like to purchase your new record or find out more about you, where can they go?
