The Tommies Reunion Scores Billboard Top 30 Debut
Members of the Grammy® Award winning Thompson Community Singers, or the Tommies, as their fans call them; have come together as The Tommies Reunion. From 1982 through 2001, The Tommies dominated the radio airwaves as America's No. 1 choir with massive radio hits like "For the Good of Them" and "Safe in His Arms." Now, they are back with the rousing new radio smash, "He'll Work it Out," which enters Billboard's Gospel Airplay chart at #27 with a bullet this week.
The Chicago-based aggregation is receiving great feedback about the bouncy tune that anchors their eponymous album, The Tommies Reunion (7 Legend/Journey/Tyscot), that releases February 22, 2019. "It is reminiscent of the legendary Tommies sound," says Jay Bryant, Program Director at WAGG 100.1 FM/610 AM in Birmingham, AL. "It can be argued that this choir is the best ever."
Chicago's leading gospel music authority, Sonya Blakey, Program Director at WGRB 1390 AM says,"The song is a great comeback for Chicago's own, Tommies! 'He Worked It Out' carries out the choir's legendary sound and vibe. Their music is relevant, and it is still celebrated and sung all around the world!" They are scheduled to perform on the WGN Morning News on 2/19.
