“Duck Dynasty” stars Korie and Sadie Robertson are speaking out to the public as they urge everyone to offer prayers for the victims of the Mogadishu bombing that killed over 300 people. It was revealed that the mother-daughter pair recently left a location extremely close to the bombing incident merely hours before it took place.

Korie took to Instagram and informed her followers that she and Sadie traveled to Somalia to help out in distributing food to 50,000 individuals affected by a severe drought.

"We spent 3 days there and fell in love. The hope-filled work being done in a difficult place was incredibly inspiring, life-changing," the 43-year-old mother shared.

Only a few hours after leaving Mogadishu, the Robertsons found out that the detonation of a truck bomb took place less than a mile from the hotel where they stayed, killing over 300 individuals and causing injuries to hundreds more.

@legitsadierob and I were asked to help deliver food to 50,000 people in the midst of a severe drought in Somalia along with @bobgoff @michaeldeanmcdonald @lovedoes and @worldfoodprogramme_official so of course we said YES! We spent 3 days there and fell in love. The hope-filled work being done in a difficult place was incredibly inspiring, life-changing. We flew out of Mogadishu yesterday morning and landed in Istanbul to find out that there was a massive truck bomb (not even a mile from our hotel) just after our plane took off that shook the entire city. Heartbroken! Reports say it’s the worst the city has ever experienced. I’m almost home now and still can’t find the words. The death toll continues to rise. It was at 276 the last report I saw. Thinking of our new friends there. The mamas, babies, teenagers...strong, kind, beautiful people. I had a post written before we learned of this tragedy that I’ll save for another day. For now, asking for prayers for the victims, their families, our friends. The country is in mourning. God be with them. #prayformogadishu “Because the poor are plundered and the needy groan, I will now arise,” says the LORD. “I will protect them from those who malign them.”” ‭‭Psalm‬ ‭12:5‬

"Heartbroken! Reports say it's the worst the city has ever experienced. I'm almost home now and still can't find the words," Korie said. "Thinking of our new friends there. The mamas, babies, teenagers...strong, kind, beautiful people."

The reality star then asked for prayers to be offered for the victims and their families. The Louisiana native also prayed herself, asking that God shines his light over the affected ones and quoting Psalm 12:5. “'Because the poor are plundered and the needy groan, I will now arise,' says the LORD. 'I will protect them from those who malign them,’” Korie wrote, while adding the hastag #prayformogadishu.

Daughter Sadie also took to Instagram and shared how she was “heartbroken” by the tragic incident, which was later on claimed by al-Shabaab, an Islamist militant group. The 20-year-old reality TV star also shared that her short trip to Somalia had been filled with “love, connection, friendship, passion, and hope.”

my heart is broken. I have spent the past 4 days in Mogadishu, Somalia. It has been an experience like no other. 4 days of Love • Connection • Friendship • Passion • Hope... 1 hour after our plane took off this morning a massive bomb went off less than a half mile from the hotel I have been staying at and very near to the homes of all of my friends there. The whole city shook and the whole city is shaken. The area at this point is unrecognizable. These new friends of mine are passionate, hopeful, hardworking, beautiful, loving, and human just like you. They have been through more in life than many of us can understand, but stronger then many of us will ever be. Today they were hit again. Hard. Nearly 40 people already found dead. Please pray. my heart is broken.

Following the attacks over the weekend, the U.S. Embassy in Somalia issued an official statement, saying that the United States remain committed to aiding their Somali and African Union partners in dealing with terrorism and promoting stability across the country and in neighboring regions. On Tuesday, a U.S. military plane landed in Mogadishu to deliver medical aid and other supplies while Somali President Mohamed Abdullahi Mohamed has officially declared three days of mourning across the nation.

In recent years, Al-Shabaab rebels have claimed responsibility for multiple attacks across Somalia and neighboring nation, Kenya. These include the massacre at the Garissa University in 2015 when Christian students were targeted by the militants- 148 died in the attack. In February, the Al-Shabaab also murdered four Christians in coastal Kenya.
