Selah and Todd Smith Top Inspirational Chart
Greatest Hymns, Vol. 2, the latest release from multi Dove Award-winners Selah, has landed at #1 on Nielsen SoundScan's Inspirational chart this week, while There's A Light, the new solo offering from Selah founding member Todd Smith, takes the #2 position on the same chart. Both projects bowed August 26 from Curb Records.
In addition, Selah's 2005 release, Greatest Hymns-one of the group's biggest recordings to date-is #3 on Nielsen SoundScan's Inspirational chart this week, while Selah's best-sellers You Amaze Us (2014) and You Deliver Me (2009), are also among the chart's current Top 10.
Renowned for their signature arrangements of hymns and inspirational classics, Greatest Hymns, Vol. 2marks a return to Selah's roots, featuring new recordings of fan favorites "Holy, Holy, Holy," "Wayfaring Stranger," "Wonderful, Merciful Savior" and "Amazing Grace." The 18-track collection also showcases 13 hymns from Selah's storied discography, including "Just As I Am"; "How Deep The Father's Love For Us"; "'Tis So Sweet To Trust in Jesus"; and "In The Garden." A new music video for "Wonderful, Merciful Savior" has already been viewed more than 2 million times on Facebook since its release last month.
There's A Light, the sophomore solo set from Dove Award-winning singer/songwriter Todd Smith, was produced by Ed Cash (Chris Tomlin, Crowder). Highlights of the project include the title-cut and first single, "There's A Light"; "Jesus Is," written while Smith's father was battling Leukemia last year; "Right Where I Belong," featuring Dove Award-winning singer/songwriter Ellie Holcomb; and "Calling All Fathers," a deeply personal anthem encouraging dads to embrace their God-given roles with accountability and confidence. There's A Light also features "Dmitri's Song (Jesus Is Alive)," a track penned by Smith and Cash recounting the true story of a Russian pastor imprisoned for his faith for 17 years.
Comprised of Todd Smith, Allan Hall and Amy Perry, Selah is one of Christian music's most beloved groups. For nearly 20 years, the trio's music has brought hope and healing while helping introduce iconic songs of faith to a new generation. With a career boasting total sales surpassing 4 million album and single units combined, Selah has garnered eight Gospel Music Association Dove Awards-including five Inspirational Album of the Year trophies-and eight #1 singles. Their signature hits include "You Raise Me Up," "Press On" and "You Amaze Us," among numerous others.
