Glen Campbell will Be Honored at the 10th Annual ACM
Blake Shelton, Toby Keith, Dierks Bentley and Keith Urban will pay tribute to country music veteran and Christian Glen Campbell at the 10th annual ACM. The foursome will sing a medley of Campbell's biggest hits culminating with his iconic song "Rhinestone Cowboy."
Besides ruling the country charts with #1 hits such as "Dreams of the Everyday Housewife," "Galveston," "Try a Little Kindness" and "Sunflower," Campbell has also charted on the Christian charts. In 1990, Campbell scored a Top 30 Christian hit with Russ Taff entitled "The Greatest Gift of All." This was followed by the Top 10 "Jesus and Me" and "Where I Am Going." Also, in the 1990s, Campbell released a string of Christian albums including a few hymns and Christmas albums.
Campbell, who was diagnosed in 2010 with Alzheimer's disease, will be honored with the Academy of Country Music's Career Achievement Award. Campbell's wife Kim will accept the award on his behalf.
Lady Antebellum will host Tuesday's (Aug. 30) event at Nashville's Ryman Auditorium. The night will be taped for a two-hour television special, airing Sept. 9 on CBS.
