Tyscot Records Earns 5 GMA Dove Award Nominations
Tyscot Records and two of its leading recording artists Anthony Brown & group therAPy and Briana "Bri" Babineaux have earned a total of five Dove Award nominations for the 47th Annual Dove Awards that take place October 11, 2016 in Nashville, TN.
Anthony Brown & group therAPy's signature song "Worth" (No. 1 on Billboard Magazine's Gospel Airplay chart for 24 weeks in 2015) picked up a nomination for the prestigious Song of the Year category. Only a handful of artists of color such as Kirk Franklin and Israel Houghton have ever been nominated for the accolade in the past and only singer/songwriter Nicole C. Mullen has ever won the award - for "On My Knees" (1998) and "Redeemer" (2001).
Brown and his group are also nominated in the category of Gospel Artist of the Year for the first time. "Worth" also earned a nod for Urban Worship Recorded Song of the Year while the group's best-selling album "Everyday Jesus" was nominated for Traditional Gospel Album of the Year. Brown's latest radio single "Bless The Lord" is a Top Ten Billboard Magazine Gospel Airplay hit.
Briana "Bri" Babineaux earned her first Dove Award nomination for her debut album "Keys To My Heart" that debuted at No. 1 on Billboard Magazine's Gospel Albums sales chart this past spring. She earned recognition for the project in the newly created category of Urban Worship Album of the Year. She'll be competing with albums by Israel Houghton & New Breed, Tasha Cobbs, Travis Greene and William McDowell. Bri's currently following up her Top Ten hit "I'll Be The One" with the dynamic ballad "Jacob's Song" that is creating a lot of positive noise as it makes its way on to gospel music radio playlists everywhere.
