Grandfather of Anchormen's Chris Jenkins Passes Away
Anchormen's tenor vocalist Chris Jenkin's grandfather, Mr. Bill Hefner passed away on August 4th. Hefner was great example of a fine Christian gentleman, a great husband, father, and grandfather, and friend to many. He sang with his local quartet, The Beacons out of Greensboro North Carolina for many years and was a faithful member of The Stevens Memorial Baptist Church in Greensboro.
From its beginnings in 1979, the Anchormen have consistently produced a strong four-part sound, becoming one of today's most respected quartets. The quartet continues its musical development on their new album, "Strength Renewed." This recording features the talented voices of the current group: bass Will Lane, baritone Terry Carter, lead Phillip Hughes and tenor Chris Jenkins. Together, they've come up with a great album with a strong message that provides top-notch quartet singing on each of the ten songs.
The songs on this album showcase the dynamic range of the Anchormen. The album's producer, Shane Roark, wrote several songs on the recording, including "I'm Gonna Run" and the first radio single from the album, "I Heard About A Man." Elvis Presley wrote "Run On," and the Anchormen lend a tremendous energy to this upbeat song. The album ends on a high note with a beautiful rendition of the Andrae Crouch classic, "The Blood Will Never Lose Its Power."
"Strength Renewed" marks the Anchormen's debut recording with Chapel Valley Music. Co- owners of Chapel Valley, brothers Shane and Travis Roark state, "We cannot wait for the public to hear their new CD. Even though this great quartet has had an illustrious and successful music career, we believe that they have better days ahead." Enjoy the Anchormen with this new album and find your "Strength Renewed."
