Former Flyleaf's Vocalist Lacey Sturm's "Life Screams" is in Stores Now
Former Flyleaf's vocalist Lacey Sturm, returns to music as a solo artist with the highly-anticipated Life Screams on FOLLOWSPOT Records with The Fuel Music distribution. Available at iTunes, Amazon.com, Best Buy and everywhere great music is sold, the album is lauded by critics as radio pushes the lead single, "Impossible," into the Mediabase Active Rock chart top 30 and climbing this week.
In addition to performing the single in HardDrive Radio's New York City studios earlier this year, Lacey exclusively joined Kayla Riley in SiriusXM's studio for an interview and acoustic performance of "Impossible" and more new songs from Life Screams. The resulting SiriusXM "Octane Unleaded" show airs today at 3:00 pm EST with encore airings on Sunday (2/14, 10 am EST), Tuesday (2/16, 9 pm EST) and Thursday (2/18, 11 am EST).
Lacey also electrified "Impossible," as well as the Life Screams track "Rot," for a "Rising on Yahoo! Music" video feature that hit online yesterday and can be seen along with an exclusive interview at https://rising.yahoo.com/post/139118070158/lacey-sturm-post-flyleaf-a-dazzling-return.
"There is a striking intensity in the singing voice of Lacey Sturm that is both captivating and instantly memorable," says Yahoo! Music executive editor, David Di Martino.
"A superb set that sonically carries on from her work with Flyleaf, Sturm's new album offers up a compelling array of emotional, hard-rocking tracks with just the right amount of edge-the lyrics, the vocals, the unique, tactical screaming bursts-that truly is a whole new thing, but familiar enough to please even the most ardent Flyleaf loyalists," continues Di Martino. "Significantly, that husband/guitarist Josh Sturm is an integral part of the mix now makes Life Screams very much a family affair. To its benefit."
"This is really the band members trying to pull out what's in me," shares Lacey during her Yahoo! Music interview. "The message is always the most important thing. It's got to be honest, I've got to be able to believe in what I'm doing, and I also have to have some sort of light at the end of the tunnel. Or hope."
Recognized as the voice and songwriter who delivered rock anthems like "Again," "All Around Me," "I'm So Sick" and "Fully Alive" to the top of the retail and radio charts, Lacey's solo debut is beginning to fire up the critics. Joining Yahoo! Music in a chorus of praise for Life Screams, AXS Entertainment / Examiner.com chimes in with its 5-star review,"At first listen I was engaged, captivated and just plain in awe...if you are not a fan of hers yet, you will be after this album." Cryptic Rock adds, "The crystal clear, powerful production illuminates eleven tracks that show how talented Sturm is." Music Is Immortal says that "the entire album is great," while Neo Music Scene agrees, "Musically, the album could not have been better." "The messages throughoutLife Screams are urgent and inspirational," says Revenant Media, while Music Underground makes it personal, "I think what I've always liked about Lacey is that she almost makes you feel emotions you never knew you had when you listen to her music." "Life Screams will likely end up in my top albums of 2016," says The Pit. "With well-written lyrics layered on top of high-energy music, Sturm reenters the music industry in style," sums up Pop Deflators.
As momentum for her first solo album continues to build, Lacey is taking her positive messages, new music and fan favorites from her Flyleaf repertoire on the road. Playing a West Hollywood, CA album release event last week at a packed-out Whisky A Go Go, her touring ramps up with a significant club tour with OTEP and then onto the "World's Loudest Month," hitting such major rock festivals as Rock On The Range, Monster Energy Carolina Rebellion, Welcome To Rockville and Northern Invasion.
