Newsong Releases "My Heart's With You" from the Hallmark Movie "The Christmas Note"
CCM band NewSong has released a brand new Christmas single "My Heart's With You." The song is being featured in the new Hallmark Movie The Christmas Note, premiered on Sunday, November 29th at 9pm ET.
Based on the New York Times Bestselling novel "The Christmas Note," by Donna VanLiere, the movie revolves around Gretchen Daniels (Jamie-Lynn Sigler). Having just moved back to her hometown with her young son but without her serviceman husband, Gretchen Daniels finds her life in disarray as Christmas approaches. She discovers new purpose when she helps to deliver a message to her neighbor, Melissa (Leah Gibson), which makes her an ally in a quest to find the neighbor's sibling she never knew she had. The women become bonded not only by the search, but by the understanding that being there for each other means they're no longer alone. This friendship becomes the greatest Christmas gift of their lives.
This is not the first time Newsong has worked with Donna VanLiere. In 2000, Donna VanLiere, released a book entitled Sheltering Trees: The Power, Promise, and Refuge Of Friendship. The book, which contained accounts of friendship from artists, singers, and speakers, won a Silver Angel Award. Newsong contributed a song to the book entitled "The Christmas Shoes."
"The Christmas Shoes" became a No. 1 mainstream radio hit. It made it to the top of the Billboard's Adult Contemporary Chart. The book was on the New York Times Bestseller List in 2002, and was later made into a TV movie by Dog Run Productions/Craig Anderson Productions/Beth Grossbard Productions for CBS, called The Christmas Shoes, which was released on December 1, 2002. The movie had nearly 17 million viewers and was the second highest-rated TV movie of the 2002-2003 seasons.
Shortly after The Christmas Shoes became a No. 1 song, Clive Calder shut down the Benson label. NewSong stayed with Zomba Music, now on the Reunion label, and released an album entitled The Christmas Shoes, which was nominated in 2003 for a Grammy Award for Best Pop/Contemporary Gospel Album. Along with the title track, the album featured a variety of original Christmas tunes and Christmas classics, such as "Rockin' Around the Christmas Tree" and "You're a Mean One, Mr. Grinch".
