The Collingsworth Family releases That Day Is Coming
The Collingsworth Family and StowTown Records are very excited to announce the brand new release of That Day Is Coming! The album features the title song, "That Day Is Coming", as well as seven other songs written by Rachel McCutcheon of Russellville, AR, one of the most promising new writers in the gospel music industry. McCutcheon, who has an unprecedented eight selections of the 13 songs on the project, also worked with co-writers Adina Bowman, Karen Gillespie, and Helga Kaefer on three of those eight tracks.
"Selection of our repertoire for this new recording was a long, slow process with listening intently to nearly 1,000 submissions," said Phil Collingsworth. "Surprisingly enough, eight of the 13 selections were written by the same songwriter."
"Somehow, her lyrical "style" of expression along with her choice of chords, melodies, tonal passages, etc., just matches exactly the way we think musically as a family," he added. "It feels like a match made in Heaven. Rachel McCutcheon was sent to us for "such as time as this" and we are loving singing her songs."
A total of 11 of the 13 selections are brand new compositions, including the powerful "Ever Faithful", the upbeat current radio single, "What the Bible Says", co-written by StowTown's Wayne Haun, Val Dacus & Randall Garland, the emotional "When He Carries Me Away" as well as the instant classic, "You're About to Climb".
The Collingsworth Family was named as a nominee for Southern Gospel Artist of the Year at the upcoming 2015 Dove Awards. The 46th GMA Dove Awards are scheduled to take place Tuesday, October 13 at Lipscomb's Allen Arena.
The Singing News Fan Awards, which were held recently at the National Quartet Convention in Pigeon Forge, TN, once again honored The Collingsworth Family with Mixed Group of the Year. Meanwhile, Kim Collingsworth was again named Musician of the Year.
In addition, Kim Collingsworth performed a powerhouse showcase during NQC, featuring her DVD and CD project, Majestic. The album includes the arrangements of three of the top producers in gospel music: David Clydesdale, the late Lari Goss and Haun. For the powerful production and performance of Majestic, Kim was also presented the prestigious Silver Telly Award by Clarke Beasley, Executive Director of The National Quartet Convention.
That Day Is Coming has already made a resounding debut at #1 on the Soundscan Chart. The brand new project is now available at Christian bookstores and retailers everywhere as well as most digital outlets.
