Carrie Underwood, Maddie & Tae, Vince Gill, Trisha Yearwood Nominated for Inspirational Faith, Family & Country Awards
The Inspirational Country Music Association has announced the top five finalists for the 21st Annual Inspirational Faith, Family & Country Awards, set for 7 p.m. Oct. 22 in Nashville.
Each year, the awards honor and showcase the biggest names and emerging talent among artists who perform inspirational and Christian country music. Among this year's nominees are Carrie Underwood, The Swon Brothers, Maddie & Tae, Vince Gill and Trisha Yearwood, who all have Oklahoma ties.
Underwood, a Checotah native; Maddie & Tae, which includes Ada native Tae Dye; and Yearwood, a former Owasso resident, are all nominated for Mainstream Country Female Artist. Underwood also is nominated for Mainstream Inspirational Country Song and Inspirational Music Video for her smash "Something in the Water."
The Swon Brothers, who hail from Muskogee, are nominated for Mainstream Country Duo or Group as well as Mainstream Inspirational Country Song and Inspirational Music Video for their single "Pray for You."
Oklahoma City native Vince Gill is nominated along with Graham Brown for Inspirationa Vocal Duo and/or Vocal Performance. Their song "He'll Take Care of You" is a finalist in the Inspirational Country Song category.
Tommy Brandt leads the nominations with four nods. His son, Tommy Brandt II, is also nominated for the Youth in Music award, giving the Brandt family a total of five nominations, followed closed by the McDougal family, who garnered four nods in various categories. This year's awards show will be emceed by TCT Networks' Melanie Walker, host of "Come On In with Melanie Walker" and the "Sessions" concert series. Walker is a multi-award winning Christian recording artist, television host, speaker and author. She is a two-time ICM Female Vocalist.of the Year. T. Graham Brown, Isaac Cole, Meghan Woods, True Heart, The Wacaster Family, Johnny Rowlett, Wade Hammond, and last year's Entertainer of the Year, Chuck Hancock, will perform on the show, with more performances to be announced in the coming weeks. Past performers include Wynonna, Josh Turner, Collin Raye, Tracy Lawrence, Natalie Grant, Charlie Daniels, Andy Griggs, Lonestar, Jamie O'Neal, Linda Davis, Point of Grace and many more.
The ICMs are additionally supported through the nationally-syndication inspirational, two-hour radio show, "Power Source Country," now syndicated weekly in more than 100 markets nationwide through Westwood One.
The Inspirational Country Music Award take place in conjunction with the annual ICM Faith, Family & Country Week, which draws music fans to Music City every year and features the ICM Faith, Family and Country nightly showcases, a special Sunday night Honkytonkin' Jubilee, the Power Source No. 1 Party, Media Appreciation Luncheon, membership breakfast, seminars and much more.
