Former Press Play Vocalist Sada K. Goes Solo with "Long Story Short"
Former Press Play vocalist Sada K. has had a serious knee injury. After the Lord's healing and encouragement, she's back with her first solo album Long Story Short. The album is available now at iTunes, Amazon and wherever digital music is sold.
After touring all over the country with the hit-making Christian pop band, Sada K. was devastated by a serious, career-threatening knee injury in June 2011. She had to face the harsh realities of two knee surgeries, months of physical therapy and the grueling task of having to learn how to walk all over again. She had to deal with the embarrassment of going from living on a tour bus to being pushed around in a wheelchair, being on crutches, using a walker, having a cane and wearing huge braces on her legs so that she could learn how to walk properly again and prevent developing a permanent limp.
God moved throughout this entire process and the time off allowed her to draw closer to God than ever before. During her recovery, Sada K. prayed and obeyed God's instructions to end her season with Press Play and move forward with a solo career. Against all odds, she independently debuted and released the single, "Stand Up." At the time of the recording, she was not able to stand to record vocals, not to mention the fact that shooting a video was virtually out of the question. As her healing manifested and she regained use of her legs, "Stand Up" became her testimony and proclamation, not just physically but spiritually.
But more challenges were waiting around the corner. Sada K. was soon hit with more life changing news, as she found out, only two weeks apart, that both of her parents were battling cancer. She contemplated walking away from her music career in Los Angeles and moving back to her hometown of Kansas City in order to care for her parents. But they insisted that she stay on her journey.
"The song 'Stand Up' means more now than it ever did before for me," explains Sada K. "When life seems to knock you down when you least expect it, you can't stay down, you have to stand up and let your light shine. You have to stand up and use the lessons that you were chosen to learn, so that you can help someone else stand up when they don't feel like they can. That's my goal and that's what I have set out to do. I'm working harder than ever before so that I can be a blessing to my parents and fulfill the purpose that I was born for."
With her new solo album, Sada K. is on a mission to create music that guides people to hope and provokes her listeners to be encouraged and persevere, no matter what they face in life.
"Complaining is not an option for me. I have my private moments, when I cry out to God and have to gather myself, but I know that I have to be strong and that there is something to learn from everything I go through. Helping people, while fulfilling my purpose, is my destiny. God never gives us more than we can bear, and I have learned through this journey, I am a lot stronger than I ever knew."
Sada K. has just released the new single, "Live Love Laugh," which creatively tells her story. Says Sada K., "I hope the song will encourage people through the life lessons I've learned through my ups and downs. Through all that I've been through I've truly learned that it's important to take a moment and remember what matters the most and never forget to live life to the fullest, walk in love and find joy in something every day."
