Android Lollipop Release Date for Nexus 5 and Other Nexus Devices
Ever since Google announced its new operating system for smartphones, every Android KitKat user wants to know when they can update to the latest Android platform. A few days ago, unlike the other giants in the industry, Google did not host any kind of huge event for the launch, and simply unveiled two new devices and the operating system in a blog post.
It is believed that Google has finished working on the universal developers' Android 5.0, and has also sent it to different manufacturers like Motorola, HTC, Samsung, LG and others so that it can be customized across the different models. As far as the Nexus devices are concerned, Google is still working on certain customizations, as well as bug fixes on battery performance and the task killer apps.
According to various tech experts, Google should roll out the Android L update by November 3, which is also thought to be the release date for its new devices, Nexus 6 and Nexus 9.
Reportedly, Nexus 5 will be the first Android Lollipop-updated smartphone, and it is assumed that the update will take over an hour in downloading and installation time. However, at the time that this article was published, Google had not yet confirmed any of these details.
Android 5.0 Lollipop will be launching only a matter of days after Apple, Google's biggest rival, came out with iOS 8, the latest operating system for iPhones, iPads and iPods. Interestingly, experts see many similarities between the operating systems of the two brands' smartphones; however, Android is believed to be better on numerous fronts.
Android's new user interface is probably the best feature, offering new widgets, icons and information signs. Google has based this platform on geometric shapes like squares, triangles and circles. Combined with new color combinations, the new operating system looks quite vivid in the pictures that have been released. As for performance, users will have to wait for a few days to get their hands on the pure Android version that is optimized for the Nexus devices.
In the meantime, you may also want to take a look at the Nexus 6 release date along with its features and specifications. It is the most advanced phone under the Google flagship, with 32GB and 64GB variants available at US$649 and US$699, respectively.
