Hannibal Season 3 Episode 1 Spoilers and Preview: Hannibal's Relationship With His Psychotherapist Will Be Explored; Whether Alana, Abigail and Jack Survived Will Be Revealed
Hannibal Season 3 will be "divided into "two chapters", the first half will see Hannibal on the run with Will Graham in pursuit, while the second portion will consist of elements from Thomas Harris's first Lecter novel, Red Dragon according to writer and executive producer Steve Lightfoot in a talk with Digital Spy. "It'll be our version of Red Dragon. We know we're going to lock Hannibal up," he said. Lightfoot also teased that season 3 is going to be "more fun." He said: "It's always going to be Hannibal - it's going to be intense. But I feel there's more opportunity for fun, for sure. The roof had come in so low and so intense at the end of season two, with all those people under it, and we've kind of broken that up. People are separated and I feel like there's room to bring more fun to it. We can't bring everyone back and have them be even more intense than before, so we've got to mix up the attitudes and that's really exciting in the writers' room."
Hannibal Season 3 cast is made up of Hugh Dancy as criminal profiler Will Graham, Mads Mikkelsen as the titular Hannibal Lecter, Caroline Dhavernas as Dr. Alana Bloom, Lawrence Fishburne as Special Agent-in-Charge Jack Crawford, Hettiene Park as Special Agent Beverly Katz, Gillian Anderson as Lecter's psychotherapist Dr. Bedelia Du Maurier, Scott Thompson as Special Agent Dr. Jimmy Price, and Aaron Abrams as Special Agent Brian Zeller.
Showrunner Bryan Fuller revealed a major Hannibal Season 3 spoiler, according to Screen Rant, when he said: "One of the wonders of this season is: Will Alana survive and will Jack Crawford survive? Will Abigail Hobbs survive? Those are things that are going to be revealed very slowly at the beginning of Season 3." In another talk with Collider, Fuller also said that Hannibal Season 3 is "radically different than the previous two seasons. I feel like we had such a blow-out at the end of the second season that everybody has to be so changed by what they've experienced. We painted ourselves into a corner, creatively, and the only way out of it is to start knocking down walls. So, we're doing something completely different in the third season."
Hannibal Season 3 episode 1 will explore the relationship between Hannibal and his psychotherapist Bedelia. Said Fuller to Collider: "The first episode is all about that. What's interesting about the third season is that every episode is a little movie. It's almost like the first episode is a pilot for a show that's just about Bedelia and Hannibal's relationship. In that, we understand the context of that relationship, past, present and where it's gonna go."
Hannibal returns to NBC in 2015. Hannibal Season 3 UK will air on the Sky Living channel.
