'Manhattan Love Story' Latest News And Updates: Comedy Series Sacked; No Happy Ending For Jake And Dana
There is no 'happily ever after' for comedy series "Manhattan Love Story". ABC Television Network decided to end the series after just four episodes. Reason? Declining viewership. The romantic comedy TV series had a rating of 0.7 in adult 18-49 demographics. Specifically, the program only had a 2.62 million viewership in their last episode. Manhattan Love Story is the first misfortune of ABC this season.
Meanwhile, ABC will present back-to-back Selfie episodes to cover the abandoned spot. Selfie TV series ratings had better numbers than Manhattan Love Story. Selfie, also a comedy series, got 3.82 million viewers, a million more than Manhattan's viewership.
Manhattan Love Story is about Dana Hopkins (Analeigh Tipton) and Peter Cooper (Jake Mc Dorman), two lovely people from New York who started dating. Jake is the savvy guy who loves the fast life in New York, while Dana is the shy, 'innocent' New Yorker. But still, opposites attract as they say.
The axed TV series was a bit different from other comedy programs. The show used a lot of 'inner dialogues' from Peter and Dana. Viewers were able to hear their thoughts as they try to get to know each other more. But alas! We won't see 'real love' blossom between the two, maybe next time. Actors Mc Dorman and Tipton for sure will have other chances to show their acting skills. They just need the right script, right timing and maybe even right partners. Some promotions would have helped too. Manhattan Love Story was basically left on their own when it came to promotions.
Jeff Lowell created the "Manhattan Love Story" TV series. Other stars in the axed series are Nicolas Wright as the dashing David Cooper, brother of Peter; Jade Catta-Preta as none other than Amy Cooper, wife of David; Kurt Fuller as none other than William Cooper, father of David, Peter and Chloe and Chloe Wepper as the half-sister of Peter and David. Manhattan Love story was executive produced by Jon Liebman, Jeff Lowell, Rachel Kaplan, Peter Traugott and Robin Schwartz.
The Ratings Game!
In the TV industry, ratings and viewership is paramount. High numbers and more seasons go together, as easy as that. "Manhattan Love Story" wasn't the first TV series hacked because of low ratings. Some got cancelled only after their second or third episodes. 'Lucky 7','Made in Jersey', 'Lone Star' and 'The Beautiful Life' were axed after two episodes each. 'The Playboy Club' was called off after three episodes.
